International best-selling author Dr. Andreas Michalsen uncovers the natural cures that will transform your health and change your lifeSunlight. Forest bathing. Fasting. Cold-water baths. Bloodletting. Leeches. Cupping. These ways of healing have been practiced in different cultures around the world for centuries. But as a cardiologist working with the most high-tech medical tools, Dr. Andreas Michalsen was taught that these practices were medieval and outdated, even dangerous. As he saw surprising results in his patients, however, Dr. Michalsen explored more deeply those seemingly ´´outdated´´ methods of healing. The more he researched, the more he was convinced by the power of natural medicine - naturopathy - to heal the human body.Over the past few decades, Dr. Michalsen has published the most cutting-edge scientific research on the efficacy of natural medicine. At the prestigious Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Dr. Michalsen has successfully treated thousands of patients using elements found in nature - sunlight, water, nourishing foods, medicinal plants and animals. The culmination of years of research and clinical knowledge, The Nature Cure explains how and why naturopathy works. Dr. Michalsen breaks down the science behind natural ways of healing and shows how we can incorporate these methods into our everyday lives to trigger our body´s self-healing mechanism.Thoughtfully written and filled with science, history, case studies, and practical guidance, this illuminating book shares knowledge that has changed the lives of thousands of patients, teaching you what your body needs to heal - without medicine riddled with side effects or invasive procedures. Discover methods of healing that don´t just cover up your symptoms, but actually address the root cause of illness. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Kaleo Griffith. Six often overlooked award-caliber sci-fi short novels and novelettes. All the stories in this unique anthology were voted to be among the top stories of their year. We believe each would be a top story of any year. Rog Phillips’ other stories are eclipsed by his psychological thriller, the brilliant Rat in the Skull, which received a well-deserved Hugo Award nomination. In H. L. Gold’s ´´Inside Man”, he dreams up brand-new wrinkles on ESP no one else, including you, has ever thought of. The special quality of this work was endorsed by his colleagues when it was nominated for the Nebula Award for best short story. The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction praises Leigh Brackett’s ´´The Stellar Legion” for its color, narrative speed, the brooding forthrightness of its protagonists, and the economy and vigor of her style, so it is hardly surprising that it earned a Retro Hugo Award nomination. Cordwainer Smith‘s ´´Scanners Live in Vain” also earned a Retro Hugo nomination. Evelyn Martin’s Reluctant Eve, winner of the Jules Verne Prize for most outstanding achievement in the science-fiction field for 1956, was the first science-fiction romance and is still an enthralling story today. Don Wilcox´s ´´The Voyage That Lasted 600 Years” (1940) was the first generation starship story and the first to incorporate the breakthrough notion of Earth developing faster-than-light ships that beat the generation ship to its destination - a worthy recipient of a Retro Hugo nomination. Wherever you are on the spectrum of science-fiction knowledge or fandom, you’ll find hours of enthralling listening (and relistening): forgotten favorites for long-time science-fiction fans and an introductory grand tour for those new to the genre. 1. For the first time, HRH The Prince of Wales shares his views on how our most pressing modern challenges - from climate change to poverty - are rooted in mankind´s disharmony with nature, presenting a compelling case that the solution lies in our ability to regain a balance with the world around us. With its holistic approach, this provocative and well-reasoned book takes the discussion of sustainability and climate change in a new direction. Prince Charles shows how the solutions to problems like climate change lie not only in technology but in our ability to change the way we view the modern world. For decades, the Prince of Wales has been studying a wide array of disciplines to understand every aspect of man´s impact on the natural world, and in that time he has examined everything from architecture to organic farming to sustainable economics. Now, for the first time, he speaks out about his years of research, presenting a fascinating look at how modern industrialization has led us to a state of disharmony with nature, created climate change, and pushed us to the brink of disaster. From the rice farms of India to the prairies of America´s corn belt, from the temples of Ancient Egypt to the laboratories of industrial designers, Harmony spans the globe to identify the different ways that contemporary life has abandoned the hard-earned practices of our history, a shift that has spurred a host of social problems and accelerated climate change. Drawing on cases from farming, health care, transportation, and design, the Prince of Wales also offers solutions for change, creating a new vision for our world, one that incorporates the traditional wisdom of our past with the modern science of our present to avert catastrophe. In the end, Harmony paints a holistic portrait of what we as a species have lost in the modern age, while outlining the steps we can take to regain the harmony of our ancestors. 1. Language: English. For many with a background in humanities, the thought of exploring the sciences can seem to be daunting at best. This can be especially true with regard to physics which often incorporates complex mathematical formulas as well. But that doesn´t have to be the case. In fact, many of the most significant principles of physics can be broken down and understood in very easy-to-understand terms. That is exactly the manner in which Professor Richard Kouzes handles the subject in this engaging series of lectures. Exploring many of the most significant concepts in physics, Professor Kouzes explains each in a very straightforward and approachable manner. He begins by examining the history of physics - the ´´knowledge of nature´´ - as a science which encompasses the study of matter and all of the phenomena that are observed in our universe. He also explores the origins of physics, tracing it back to the ancient world. Subsequent lectures then delve into some of the major principles of physics such as the Laws of Motion, Energy, Thermodynamics, and Electromagnetism. Building upon these, Professor Kouzes then guides listeners to a better understanding of some of the more complex applications of physics such as Nuclear Physics and Quantum Mechanics and the ways in which physics impacts each of lives on a daily basis. 1. This is a book of pure science fiction. As if I could really have that happen to me and stay alive. I hope you like this continuing fantasy that came as a result of PTSD-influenced nightmares. This story follows the adventure of an ordinary disabled veteran who gets immense power, based as lightning and plasma energies. He is recruited by the FBI and sent on many missions related to yesterday, today, and tomorrow’s issues, as well as a bit of space time too. These missions are now going through time and ´´picking up the pieces” as our hero encounters time travelers and villains from the future, past, and today and in space, too! This, in its awesome fashion, lets our ´´hero´´ show exactly what he can do with his many unique devices. This time he’s assisting some intergalactic pals, too! He repairs and destroys things while other times reading and manipulating people´s minds using the electrical impulses within the brain. He fixes damage to standard events in time and space, restoring them to their original state, we hope. This really is a book of nearly pure science fiction with a bit of real history thrown in. We continue our adventures of Bolt as he continues to fight the Leudelavie family. There are adventures through time and even into outer space! Our hero must now face the daunting task of aiding planets outside our known solar system as well as assuming a diplomatic post. By the way, there really is a lot of historic information provided throughout this book, so it is also a learning story, not just science fiction. That ought to confuse the listeners and reviewers a bit. I hope you like the way I incorporate that information into the story to make it a more learning and interesting book. I even included the proper pronunciations after each name. Please listen and enjoy! 1. Language: English. Narrator: Mark A. McMurray. This is an audiobook of pure science fiction. As if I could really have that happen to me and stay alive. I hope you like this continuing fantasy that came as a result of PTSD-influenced nightmares. I used this story to ´´interrupt´´ those dreams. This story follows the adventure of an ordinary disabled veteran who gets immense power, based as lightning and plasma energies. He is recruited by the FBI and sent on many missions related to today´s issues, things occurring in the future, and those occurring in the past. These missions are now going through time and ´´picking up the pieces” as our hero encounters time traveler after time traveler, from 100 years in the future to the past and today. This, in its awesome fashion, lets our ´´hero´´ show exactly what he is able to do and come up with in the way of devices. He builds and destroys things while other times reading and manipulating people´s minds using the electrical impulses within the brain. He fixes damage to standard events, those forward and backward in time, and maybe involving space a bit, and restores them to their original state. No more hints so I don´t give the whole story away.
