In Power & Process Industry, there is growing demand for automated system to control speed of D.C. Motors. As the close loop system for speed control of D.C. Motor which incorporate software & hardware is advantageous in comparison to open loop system of speed control which incorporate only hardware. And chopper based system having MOSFET as switching device with higher rate of ON/OFF frequency is popular among Power Electronics Engineers to design the circuitry with less components.

This book primarily focuses on the study of various neurological disorders, including Parkinson's (PD), Huntington (HD), Epilepsy, Alzheimer's and Motor Neuron Diseases (MND) from a new perspective by analyzing the physiological signals associated with them using non-linear dynamics. The development of nonlinear methods has significantly helped to study complex nonlinear systems in detail by providing accurate and reliable information. The book provides a brief introduction to the central nervous system and its various disorders, their effects on health and quality of life, and their respective courses of treatment, followed by different bioelectrical signals like those detected by Electroencephalography (EEG), Electrocardiography (ECG), and Electromyography (EMG). In turn, the book discusses a range of nonlinear techniques, fractals, multifractals, and Higuchi's Fractal Dimension (HFD), with mathematical examples and procedures. A review of studies conducted to date on neurological disorders like epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson's, Huntington, Alzheimer's, and Motor Neuron Diseases, which incorporate linear and nonlinear techniques, is also provided. The book subsequently presents new findings on neurological disorders of the central nervous system, namely Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease, by analyzing their gait characteristics using a nonlinear fractal based technique: Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (MFDFA). In closing, the book elaborates on several parameters that can be obtained from cross-correlation studies of ECG and blood pressure, and can be used as markers for neurological disorders.

Maserati Kyalami

The Maserati Kyalami (named after South Africa's Formula One circuit) was a new model rushed into production after Alessandro de Tomaso took helm of the company. De Tomaso, never shy of copying anything good (confer his Deauville, a smoothed-out copy of Jaguar's XJ 6, or his sports car prototype shown at the Turin Salon in 1974, a virtual carbon copy of Fiat's X1/9), took Tom Tjaarda's design of the De Tomaso Longchamp (itself inspired by the Mercedes 450SLC) modified the front and rear end to create a distinctive Maserati feel for the new car. The interior was also upgraded to incorporate classic Maserati elements such the steering wheel and instrumentation. The Kyalami, a four-seater notchback coupe, was launched at the 1976 Geneva Motor Show and was initially available with Maserati's 4.2 litre V-8 engine (255 hp) and, starting in 1978, with a 4.9 litre-V8 delivering 290 hp, both engines coupled with a ZF 5-speed manual transmission or on request a 3-speed automatic.

Automatic Recognition of Dysarthric Speech
60,70 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder characterized by weakness, paralysis, or poor coordination of the muscles responsible for speech. Although automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems have been developed for disordered speech, factors such as low intelligibility and limited phonemic repertoire decrease speech recognition accuracy. Furthermore, conventional speaker adaptation algorithms that improve normal speech recognition may not perform as well on dysarthric speakers. Instead of adapting the system, two main techniques are proposed to model the pronunciation errors made by the speaker: (1) a set of discrete hidden markov models (termed as "metamodels") that incorporate a model of the speaker's phonetic confusion-matrix into the ASR process, and (2) a network of Weighted Finite-State Transducers (WFSTs) at the confusion-matrix, word and language levels. These error modelling techniques attempt to correct the errors made at the phonetic level and make use of a language model to find the best estimate of the correct word sequence. Hence, these techniques when integrated into the speech recognition process performed significant error correction and improved speech recognition

EMC for Product Designers, Fifth Edition, provides all the key information needed to meet the requirements of the EMC compliance standards. More importantly, it shows how to incorporate EMC principles into the product design process, avoiding cost and performance penalties to meet the needs of specific standards that produce a better overall product. As well as covering the 2016 versions of the EU EMC and Radio Directives, this new edition has been thoroughly updated to be in line with the latest best practices in EMC compliance and product design. Coverage now includes extra detail on the main automotive, military, and aerospace standards requirements, as well as a discussion of the issues raised by COTS equipment in military applications.New to this edition are chapters on functional safety, design and installation aspects of switchmode power converters with an introduction to EMC testing of integrated circuits, new details on CISPR 32/35, updates to new versions of the Directives DEF STAN 59-411, DO-160 and MIL STD 461, with more commentary on the implications and requirements of military and aerospace standards, and an added reference to CE Marking for military and problems of COTS.In addition, new sections on IC emissions measurements per IEC 61967 are included, along with new coverage of FFT/time domain receivers, an expanded section on military/aerospace transients, special references to DO160 lightning, added material on MIL STD 461 CE101, RE101, and RS101, the latest practice in PCB layout with a discussion of slots in ground planes, current practice on decoupling, extended coverage of DC-DC converters and motor drives, and a new section on switching inverter (motor drives, renewable energy converters, etc.) installation, and the latest 2016 mandatory regulations of the RTTE and EMC Directives.Presents a complete introduction to EMC for product design from a practicing consultant in the field Includes short case studies that demonstrate how EMC product design is put into practiceProvides the latest 2016 mandatory regulations of both the RTTE Directive and EMC Directive

Air War Over the Nore (eBook, ePUB)

The Battle of Britain and the Atlantic and the Blitz are invariably the focus of books and perceptions of the air war over and around Britain during the Second World War. Yet, it was Britains more exposed eastern flank, from the South Foreland in the south to Bridlington in the north that faced nearly six years of unrelenting attacks by the Luftwaffe, the Kriegsmarine and, amazingly, the Corpo Aereo Italiano based in Belgium. The Italians alone launched some 150 raids on England hitting Great Yarmouth, Clacton, Harwich, Deal, Ramsgate and a host of other targets. This book chronicles the air war around the east coast as its principle focus but also incorporate the joint operations mounted by both the Allies and the Axis forces. It looks at the preparations for invasion, the defense of vital convoys, the air defenses, the coastal blitz, ship and crew rescue and crucial docks and shipyards. With so much attention paid to the south coast, the air war over the east coast was often fought on a shoestring although it was the coast that lay closest to Germany. It was not a war of vast fleets of warships and submarines, it was conflict staged by aircraft and smaller raiding craft. It also saw the biggest mine-laying campaign in history and the largest battle fought between Axis E Boats and Allied Motor Torpedo Boats. As the tide turned in Britains favor, the east coast became the staging post of the great bomber offensives against enemy occupied Europe and Germany itself. Yet the raiding and attacks on the east coast continued culminating in air-launched V1 attacks and finally V2 strikes.
