What is happening to the church in America today? By all appearances, it looks like we are “doing’ church better than we ever have. Our programs are effective, our pastors are relevant, and our buildings are increasing in size. In the past 30 years the number of mega-churches has increased from under 100 to over 7,500. In the past 10 years the number of multi-site churches has increased from under 100 to over 2,000. By the numbers, these church movements enjoy the national platform, the national voice, and the resources to profoundly impact the Kingdom. But to what end? In spite of the rapid growth of these prevailing church movements we are still losing ground, and the church in the West is in massive decline. Numerous studies and books have been written documenting the flight of members from the institutional church. Yet the local church is Jesus’ plan for reaching the world. The strength of the mega-church and multi-site models can be found in a strong emphasis on attracting people to the church, where they have an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ. Yet many younger leaders are rejecting this model in favor of a more incarnational approach to ministry. These missional communities tend to focus their attention on trying to release people into ministry. In recent years a growing schism has emerged between those calling themselves incarnational leaders and those leading the prevailing church models. But what if we were able to incorporate the insights of both models into a cohesive understanding of the church? Can we bring together the very best of the attractional AND missional models for church ministry?,p 1. Language: English. Narrator: Don Leslie, Richard Brewer. Discipleship is a great read for those who have grappled with questions like: What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? Is being a disciple of Jesus the same thing as being a Christian? What does a life of discipleship look like? Dr. Picirilli provides practical answers and applications for the reader through an exhaustive study of what the New Testament writers said about the requirements for salvation. He offers sound, comprehensive exegesis demonstrating that repentance, obedience, and discipleship are biblical expressions of saving faith. Dr, Picirilli presents a thoroughly scholarly approach to dealing with the Greek grammar, relevant textual issues, and contrasting interpretations on topics ranging from assurance of salvation, apostasy, backsliding, holiness, sanctification, and sin. He also shares important implications of how we should present the gospel, offer assurance of salvation, and incorporate proper church discipline.

Your God Given Dignity is a heartfelt yet fun companion to help make positive changes in self-acknowledgment. Often Christian women work very hard, taking on leadership and supportive roles in the church, community, at their jobs and with their families, only to neglect themselves to their own physical, mental, and spiritual detriment. When complete in Christ, living in relationship with the heavenly Father, we can handle what is necessary, know when to say enough, and know when to ask for help. The practices within these pages help bring us back to alignment. Your God Given Dignity presents simple concepts with verses and quotes, insights and action steps that incorporate learning strategies using all five senses (given to us by God for a purpose) to imbed positive thoughts-and especially God's words-into our brains. The goal is to bring our minds back from 'unworthy' thoughts to what God thinks through repetition and other practices. The renewed mind becomes easier as the thoughts of God, positive images, and supportive actions are consistently practiced and reinforced. Some of these practices involve goal setting and observing daily life to find personal strengths and passions so they can be strengthened even more. Christ's disciples were just that-'disciplined ones'-but it doesn't happen overnight. That is what we endeavor to pursue, step-by-step discipline, with these positive practices to incorporate God's thoughts into our minds. Gentle reminders of what we do have put us back on the road to full capacity with less internal resistance. The trick is to acknowledge those things in ourselves and remember that God has made us worthy. 'Failures' need to be forgiven and forgotten, and successes acknowledged for the gift they are. When we can truly believe God at His Word without reservation, through the renewed mind, we can shine as brilliant lights in this world.
